Hi, there. My name is Meiyi Ding. My major is jewellery and related products in Birmingham City University. I research the relationship between modern cities and people, including spiritual influence. The development and changes of cities make more and more people lose touch with social space, and many people feel lonely and confused. Although people live in cities, they always hide in their own Spaces. Because the current layout and structure of the city and work pressure can make people feel lonely and isolated, people need to find new ways to improve this feeling of loneliness. I have used geometric structures in my work to represent urban environments. The technique of knitting is method of working with physiological discomfort. knitting is indeed an effective way to prevent people of all ages from feeling lonely. Nowadays, with the rapid development of cities, people are no longer satisfied with the simple material base of food, clothing and warmth, but more need to enrich their spiritual world, so that their hearts can be satisfied. These are all worth exploring, it is also something that I want to express as a design major.
