My current project “Hi Pets” is a pet memorial series. The core material is to use pet hair to design different parts of jewelry to form a series of memorials to express the meaning of commemoration. Memorial jewelry can be traced back to ancient Rome. In the history of human development, jewelry has evolved from simple accessories to objects with a certain symbolic significance. Since the mid-17th century, hair commemorative jewelry has become popular. People use hair as the raw material for making jewelry and make mourning jewelry to convey their affection. Memorial jewelry is not limited to expressing grief. It is also a beautiful expression of people’s love. Because hair is not perishable and can be stored for a long time, it symbolizes the love that transcends death and lasts forever in the token of love. Memorial jewelry contains richer and more delicate emotions than traditional jewelry. This emotional product resonates with the audience’s imagination through the ability to attract the senses, evoke memories and emotional associations. It satisfies people’s needs for personalized jewelry to a certain extent, and at the same time makes the emotions in jewelry resonate with their own unique stories.
