I am a RIBA Part 2 graduate, having finished my formal education at Birmingham City University.
Having spent little over 1 year in practice, I have developed an affinity for the residential sector, from small-sized refurbished buildings to new-build high-rise mixed-use projects.
Working in various RIBA stages, I have developed a keen eye for detail, which I have applied in tasks raging from interior and furniture design, to landscape modelling and master-planning.
My creative process is driven by my passion for architecture that is mindful to its surroundings and thoughtful to its users; this usually requires extensive research of existing conditions to establish a holistic understanding of the context and to inform a tailored approach to design.
I gained experience working in a variety of software which helped me produce a large array of work, from 3D modelling (Revit, ArchiCAD, SketchUp), 2D drawing (AutoCAD), visualizing (Enscape, Lumion), to post-production (Photoshop, InDesign), or more mix media that includes 3D printing or hand-modelling.
My final project of the MArch – the Thesis Project – is the culmination of a 2-year long journey of the Modern Gazetteer Studio. Preoccupied with ideas of the civic realm and drawing on theoretical analysis of architectural typologies, my studies within the Studio established the basis of my Thesis Project – the Civic Ruin.
Set in the culturally rich context of University of Birmingham, the first English redbrick university, the proposed Civic Ruin aims to mediate the relationship between past and future, responding to the current tendency of rapid change that governs the civic academic environment. By providing a framework of adaptability to user needs, changing space requirements and flexible functions across a long period of time, the Civic Ruin is a metaphor that stands for reflection on the past and contemplation of a myriad of possible futures.
Looking forward from this, I wish to expand my expertise in the sustainability sector, for which I have received a certification of Green Building Training. My next professional aim is to complete my RIBA Part 3, as crowning achievement of my architectural education.
