OQRENCE -

Field Diagrams - The thesis initially questions what defines as space, but the process begins to reshape the question into defining defining space as a direct translation of drawings into three-dimensional architecture.

Fiberbots: Process - Fiber glass is increasingly becoming preferable when it comes to building. It has, through its composition, low embodied energy, relatively strong, and can be shaped to carry loads in multiple directions. Inspired by Neri Oxman's Fiberbots invention, the project takes the path of drawing in air, weaving fiberglass layer over layer.

Fiberbots: Build-up -

[3D]rawing - With the circular weaving of fiberbots, I used a 3D pen to draw in air the same way fiberbots operate. This informed the scale and type of structure the spaces would be made of.

Organ Growth - These fiberbots are used to build organic structures that can then be built into and allow for inhabitation. The organs can be built on site with a set foundation and support of scaffolding, or built as separate tissues off-site to be constructed, deconstructed and reconstructed, allowing for flexibility.

Southern Elevation - Fiberbots work together to support larger structures. Their 'tentacles' implant on land and grow upwards. This forms an assemblage of a high frequency of fiber observations that take over the skies.

ETFE Strategy - ETFE Pillows are naturally insulating material used for instead of regular window glazing in buildings. One main feature that heavily impacts the thermal comfort of my building is its infatability. This characteristic of ETFE makes the daylight and thermal strategy flexible. The opacity of gases pumped into the ‘pillows’ allow for adjustment of how much light and solar radiation enters the building to prevent overheating. The fiber glass exoskeleton’s durability and its stance against corrosion also is flexible to be used as a rainwater drainage system to help cool down the building.

Aerial - Sunlight is beginning to not reach the ground and other buildings. Observers who refuse to live within OQRENCE no longer have a choice but to give in to the inevitable.

Within - ...living within the observations woven by fiberbots proved to escalate advancements in technology. Observers, whilst inhabiting observations, have inadvertently learned to live with robots working around them. This rapid evolution of architecture has seemingly evolved human species, too. But is it for the better or worse? You decide.
