My name is Ivan Foo, I am 25 years old this year and I am from Malaysia. I have one year of work experience and then I studied for a degree at BCU.
The name of my project is Apocalypse. It is a sustainable and experimental green building in the next 100 years, a condominium with the goal of Eden.
What will happen in the next 100 years?
Everyone may have imagined this question, it may be better or worse, and I chose the bad side as the theme to design this building. Instead of imagining the future beautifully, it is better to face the existing problems realistically.
This building has many possible designs in the future, such as virtual windows, as well as realistic modular spaces. The present and the future coexist.
In this building, I also used a huge contrast between indoor and outdoor environments to use this building of the future to warn us now that global warming is more serious than we thought. If we do not make changes now, there is a high possibility that the future will develop to the bad.
Regarding the storyline design, I quoted the stories of Adam and Eve throughout the design process, showing human desires and putting them into the design.
At the beginning, like a developer, I made up the beautiful imagination of the interior, living in it was as beautiful as Adam and Eve’s Garden of Eden, and finally came a reversal of imagination and reality.
Everyone knows the ending of this legend. After the temptation of the snake, Eve could not resist the desire to eat the uneatable forbidden fruit, and got the original sin: lust, greed, passion and desire for power. Expelled from the Garden of Eden.
The natural environment was originally a paradise, but it could not resist the selfish desires of human beings and was irresponsible to other god-created species, which led to the fall of paradise. That is, humans destroy and pollute the environment.
For architecture, human beings are the same. They expand their living space endlessly regardless of others. There are other selfish behaviors that result in deformed buildings. Deformed human nature creates deformed buildings.
I used the results of this future construction to warn us now. Warning is sometimes better than education. There are so many beautifully imagined buildings now, it’s time for some reality.
