Through my Landscape Architecture course at BCU I have been exploring the complex relationship between humans and the environment. I am interested in balancing the needs of the natural world, to protect and enhance biodiversity, while providing healthy and sustainable living environments for people. I look forward to moving into practice engage with issues like the climate and biodiversity crisis on a practical level.
My final project explores my home city, Shenzhen a modern immigrant city. On the surface this is a place of prosperity but underneath stress and anxiety from the pressures of contemporary city life is rising. The design aims to create an inclusive public space for diverse social activities and bring together locals and immigrants or visitors to the city. The integration of soft planting areas aims to bring nature back into the city providing spaces to alleviate the pressures of daily city life.
