Heyy! My name is Olivia! I am a graduate of Interior Architecture and Design featured in Dezeen for my Final Major Project – ‘Towards a Future Heritage’. I am due to start my Masters in the upcoming September. I am really excited for where the Masters will lead me and I hope to build upon my existing interest in the conservation of interiors.
My Final Major Project entitled ‘Towards A Future Heritage’ focuses on the innovative ways that a building can be conserved whilst also allowing for the modern user to leave a layer of heritage for future users to experience. This project tested the definition of conservation and the current approach to conservation of interiors which is highly focused on materiality. This is interesting because the reason for the conservation of most buildings is to do with the story, not the wallpaper! My project explored the use of negative space by creating a vacuum that protects the existing shell of the building whilst allowing for a new layer of heritage to be created for future users to enjoy. This project was nominated for an Interior Educators Award under the category Future Interiors.
