Every time I put on a dress without pockets, I wonder why this is so and why fashion and practicality can’t go hand in hand. From this idea, I created my first story about pockets. As I explored more deeply into memory and the present, I created this collection, ‘storyage’.
“Storyage“ is a series of stories about pockets and I wanted to turn the project into a multi-layered story. Firstly, by thinking about pockets, I wanted to use each pocket as a different story to express my attitude and experience of art, of life and of childhood. For the first small sample, I told eight stories. I will continue to optimise these stories. Gradually, I will choose stories that resonate with people’s memories. In terms of design, my work references the making and shape of pockets in clothing design; I design the pockets in terms of colour, shape, material and story. This project is also about gaining more learning and gradually finding my purpose and direction through an attitude of exploring the relationship between contemporary installation art, contemporary art and contemporary jewellery design. I believe that contemporary art remains the most direct expression of our self-expression and storytelling.
